Representation

Developing the processes and tools to ensure Travellers and Roma are represented at all levels of decision-making in County Donegal.

Ongoing Work

  • Donegal Travellers Project works to develop participatory processes and tools that enable Traveller and Roma communities to be represented within democratic structures across County Donegal, supporting meaningful change and influence in local decision-making.
  • A growing number of DTP staff sit on boards and committees at both local and national levels. DTP maintains a strong policy and representational role, ensuring that the issues affecting Traveller and Roma communities—particularly those in rural and border areas—are included in regional and national debates.
  • DTP’s work builds capacity within the Traveller and Roma communities, supporting individuals to become advocates for their own communities. This includes work to ensure the Roma community is recognised, included and respected as a minority ethnic group in Donegal.
  • The organisation continues to strengthen the structures and tools that allow Traveller and Roma communities to participate in democratic decision-making processes and influence policy outcomes.
  • DTP is committed to developing as a strong, democratic, accountable and effective local Traveller and Roma organisation, underpinned by good governance.
